    Hiya

I bought one to see if it would install MorphhOS....and it doesn't....install CD boots to a white screen only....thats it...just incase anyone was considering buying one... don't...🙂

iMac A1058 (ambient light sensor ALS)
    iMac G5
    PowerMac 8,2
    PowerPC G5 (3.0)
    1.8mhz
    Memory 2 Gig

    ATI Radeon 9600
    VRAM 128M
    AGP

Installation media works fine on an iBook...

Shame...but if it saves anyone any effort or cash then I'm happy to let you know...🙂

@ Karrottow - I don't know where you got the spec that the A1058 17" iMac has a Radeon in it, because it is supposed to have a Nvidia GeForce 5200 (Ultra?) 64MB VRAM card in it, as does the A1076 iMac the 20" screen model of the same era, which is a totally unsupported GFX card/family for MorphOS.

So, as jacadcaps has already pointed out check the MorphOS hardware compatibility page thoroughly, before making a bad decision to buy hardware that is just not, and never likely to be supported - seeing as it has a Nvidia GFX system!
    MacMini 1.5GHz,64MB VRAM, PowerBooks A1138/9 (Model 5,8/9),PowerMac G5 2.3GHz(DP), iMac A1145 2.1GHz 20", all with MorphOS v3.18+,Airport,Bluetooth,A1016 Keyboard,T-RB22 Mouse,DVD-RW-DL,MiniMax,Firewire/USB2 & MacOSX 10.4/5

Actually the 20" ALS model does have a Radeon 9600 which means it could be supported (which it isn't).
That is also "PowerMac8.2" so this might have been where the confusion started.

But as pointed out only "iSight" models are supported, which can be easily identified by the (unsupported) webcam above the screen.

…as does the 17″ ALS model.

What NewSense refers to is PowerMac8,1.
