Hi i have two G5 11,2 Macs at home one 2.5 Quad and a 2.3 aircooled. I saw this video on youtube from Chris Edwards. He swapt the cpu from his 2.3 11,2 to one dual core CPU from G5 Quad.
Would it be possible to just swap the aircooling from the 2.3 into the 2.5 quad and remove the watercooling and one cpu from the quad? So it would be then a G5 Dual Core 2.5 Machine that is aircooled?
I know i could do it the other way round. But the Quad has a MorphOS Key so i had to buy a new license or at least bug Frank for a license swap.

It should work, but remember the PSUs in the Quads are inefficient timebombs ( worse than the smaller ones in the dualcores).

Much more likely to fail compared to the smaller ones.

Yeah, I second Kronos on this...

Go to one of the single processor versions and swap the cpu like many of us have done.

To many headaches to deal with the quadcore systems...

You will have a CPU as a backup as a bonus :)

You could always buy another license so you could hop back to the other if needed. That is what I did. I have a spare ready to go if my main system ever failed.

    Good luck!

To be honest I'm not sure if I would bother upgrading a 2.3GHz model for such small gains.
With a 2.0GHz base you get +25% both for CPU and front side bus.

So yeah, sell the quad, pay 79€ and enjoy the 2.3 as it is.
