    It's called Trance, sits in mossys:c/ and it is activated by default.

    Use the original Amiga Technoligies Installer from Aminet for installation

    It's commonly used. Just go to debian.org and look for it. Genesi is a officila partner of debian.

    I've never been able to get those games to install and play myself. The hard drive space issue also was a problem for me, but this also is a problem with some install scripts on amiga. Its a large drve issue or something. The installer I use came with the sdk update I think, not sure though. I can install freespace fine now, but it wont run. I would bother anyway. The game is buggy and even more so under MorphOS.

    The linux issue is another matter. I attempted to get Debian to install for months and gave up. I have Gentoo installed now. If you go to the Gentoo site and search fo the ppc install handbook it walks you through the install process. Its a lot better linux too and not its even supported on the PPC live CD.

    Install to them to a small drive or partition (smaller than 2GB) and then copy directory to final location.

    I.e. RAM DISK is often good candinate.

    Installing Debian is a piece of cake.

    The new Debian PPC install CD support Pegasos out of the box.
    Make sure to install either Debian unstable or testing (sarge)
    Do NOT try to install the old stabe (woody) branch!

    Burn your install CD but in into the CD drive and boot the chrp kernel image. As the pegasos is as chrp PPC machine you need to take the chrp linux kernel! The kernel is somewhere under /install/ - I think ... I have no Debian CD to verify this at the moment, sorry.
    You'll need to double check the folder name.
    Look in the install folder for the powerpc chrp kernel.

    Boot it with the following command
    boot cd /install/otherfolder/linuxkernelname

    Now debian will install and recognise all your hardware (gibabit/etc) ...

    A note:
    The pegasos firmware can boot from ext2 and ext3 partitions.
    Make sure to choose for your boot patition one of those formats. (ext3 is a good choice for all partitions)

    Have fun with debian!

    Cheers
    Gunnar

    P.S. I'll search for a CD later to give you the correct folder name

    A link to the correct CD would help too. I have a 10GB drive in my
    machine not doing much I could put it on now.

    Hmm, did you install the a graphic environment at all?

    The pure basic debian install of course has no gui.

    Can you run the command "startx" ?
    Running startx from shell is like running "loadwb" on Amiga it will start the Gui

    in my first installation try I had the same problem. BigGun says right, you must see "Desktop" in packets list then you must choose it and the X11 ambient with gnome, kde etc. will be installed. ;-)

    Linux: This install-doc from Nicolas Det may help: http://powernico.free.fr/linux/linux_install.html

    I installed in 2006 Debian 4 from a 4-DVD-disk-set, which was quite easy for a newbe like me, and updated via web later to Debian 6. I don't do very much with linux on my peg - so I never did fürther updates....

    Running Linux? As that's what he referred to of course, as clarified later.

    -About the dvd mplayer how can i add subtitles??

    If there are subtitlefiles on DVD you can activate/cycle them by selecting "Cycle Subtitles" in menu.

    Or you press key "c" during playing and select preferences/subtitles to enable them.

    Keyboard shortcuts for MPlayer include:
    q = quit
    r = sub position -
    t = sub position +y
    T = enable/disable stay on top mode
    y = sub delay reset to 0
    o/O = toggle on-screen display (enabled, disabled, time lapsed, time lapsed/remaining)
    p = play/pause
    [ = speed -10%
    ] = speed +10%
    { = speed x 1/2
    } = speed x 2
    a = sub alignment
    d = toggle framedropping (on, hard, off)
    f = toggle full-screen
    j = toggle subtitle (off, language 1, language 2, etc...)
    l = load file to playlist (GUI only)
    z = sub delay -
    x = sub delay +
    c = skin browser
    v = enable/disable subtitles
    b = toggle subtitle (off, language 1, language 2, etc...)
    m = mute on/off
    / = volume down,
    0 = play
    . = frame advance
    1 = contrast -
    2 = contrast +
    3 = brightness -
    4 = brightness +
    5 = tint - (green)
    6 = tint + (red)
    7 = color -
    8 = color +
    / = volume -
    * = volume +
    - = audio-video delay -
    + = audio-video delay +
    up = forward 1 minute
    down = back 1 minute
    left = rewind
    right = fast forward
    home = beginning
    end = end
    pg up = forward 10 mins
    pg dn = back 10 mins
    # = toggle audio

    If you have a seperate subtitle-file to a movie, you can load from subtitle-menu!

    @Amigaharry2,

    Can you tell me how to obtain the menu of a dvd to be shown at insertion ? With old versions of mplayer by fab1 this was possible but the actual versions, from 1. to 1.4, this does not seem to be anymore possible.
