Ok MOS ppls here is the way to get Amiguide installed on MOS 1.3

Get the following from the Amiga OS 3.1 disks

    * NOT FROM OS3.5/3.9 DO NOT USE ANY FILES FROM 3.5/3.9 IF YOU CAN HELP IT*

    amigaguide.library
    amigaguide.datatype

Open a New Shell go to the directory where you have the above 2 files and type

    copy amigaguide.library to sys:libs
    copy amigaguide.datatype to sys:classes/datatypes
    copy amigaguide.datatype to sys:devs/datatypes

    and away you go

It should be noted that the OS3.5CD has the OS3.1 files on it in a seperate location from OS3.5 proper.

    Thanks Tarhan
Maybe we should put this on a FAQ?

    @ magnetic,

Just a quick correction (although I guess everyone knows what was
    meant originally):

I assume that the last copy should be

    copy amigaguide to sys:devs/datatypes

Means, you should copy the descriptor and not the datatype itself
    again.

You are correct, this should be covered in the FAQ. I will need to verify something first...

    HiHo!
Alternatively you can use f.e. guidem12.lha (aminet) to convert your AmigaGuide into html.
The converter can be easily configured in Dopus4...

I have to check it at home, but I think I'm using the AmigaGuide-stuff from the OS3.9 CD and BB2-upgrade :-?

    Hi Tokai,

I did check the FAQ sometime ago and it did not had the refresh part
in it. So I went searching on postings. Anyway, I did that command but
it does not work. Well the command does but still the guide files are
not looking the way they should. I think I have the wrong version of
the files then. Since those are the only ones I have and acces to my
Amiga's is not possible I guess that's it for me. Can we expect guide
files viewing included in the next MOS release? Otherwise I can never
view those files. Big bummer. :-(

Remember, that MorphOS has 2 sets of many directories

Like Libs: Exists both at SYS: and SYS:MorphOS/

Usually files with same name (or same but with .elf) at MorphOS/ "override" those at SYS:

    Hi Jupp3,

You're right, but do we have AmigaGuide files with MOS1.4?
    I don't remember.

I only included mentioned files in the SYS:-dirs and afterwards the Guide-files worked ok. So I never checked the MOSSYS:-dirs.

    Hi Coder,

If you've got DirOpus4.16 you only have to select the file and then click on the button with the text Version on it.

Or you can open a CLI-window and type:

    version {path and filename}

    Like:

    Ram Disk:> version libs:amigaguide.library
    amigaguide.library 40.4
    Ram Disk:>

    Hi Spidey,

First I thought I found the problem. In this thread it said copy
amigaguide.datatype to sys:devs/datatypes but another link in this
thread said it should be amigaguide. So I copied amigaguide to it but
still it does not work. The versions:

    sys:classes/datatypes/amigaguide.datatype = 40.12

    sys:devs/datatypes/amigaguide = 40.1

    sys:libs/amigaguide.library = 40.4

    @ Coder,

Hm, files are in the correct directories and compared with Cecilia's version are also correct (can't compare them with mine versions as I use files from an OS3.9 + BB2 system).

I assume you restarted your Pegasos after copying, so the system got aware of the new datatype.

How are you trying to look at amigaguide-files?

Do you start Multiview and then select the file? (best way to check whether this datatype is recognised).
Or are you using it by clicking on the icon from the guide?

If you are using the latter one, make sure that the correct Default Tool is used in the icon (maybe it is set to "amigaguide" which is an predecessor of "multiview").
In this case replace it with "multiview" (if your system is set up correct you don't need a path in the default tool).

    Hi Coder,

Ok, a few perhaps dumb questions to rule out some variables :-)

    - You don't have additional AmigaGuide-files in the MOSSYS-dir (check the C, Libs, Devs/DataTypes and Classes/DataTypes to be certain)

    - In Devs:DataTypes you've got the files AmigaGuide and AmigaGuide.info installed

(Perhaps an idea to also copy the executable AmigaGuide into C: and try a AmigaGuide-file with it.)

Ofcourse you've got the other AmigaGuide-files in the correct places (Libs: and Classes:DataTypes) :-)

After you've checked everything, restart the comp and try out a AmigaGuide file with Multiview (and with AmigaGuide).

    Good luck,

    Spidey

    Hi,

    @HAK

I will make sure of that reboot. I did some reboots because of other things but I am not sure if I checked it again. I tried MultiView.

In the how-to I only see a mention of AmigaGuide and not AmigaGuide.info
Makes it the more confusing if you ask me. Unless it is just a tip from you. :-)

Later on I will give it a try again and report about it.
