Why is YAM not integrated into MOS?
Is there a way to publish a CD(-Compilation) with YAM and MOS?

YAM isn't integrated into MorphOS for one very simple reason: it sucks.

Let's see.... Here.... Hmm... Voyager is integrated into MOS. Voyager is by Vaporware. Ambient is by one of the Vaporware gurus. Hmm...
Last time I checked, YAM isn't done by the vaporware team, so I don't think it's going to happen--sorry. Then again, YAM is opensource, so I do see your point. Take the current version of YAM, include the source, and put it on the CD... In a way, it isn't necissarily a _bad_ idea...

I wont like YAM in MOS. SimpleMail is better and maybe we will get it
    include.

I like YAM a lot, but I really don't think it's a good idea to
"integrate" every kind of app into the operating system. Providing a
CD or source for download of a wide selection of software is another
thing, though. Then people could choose if they want YAM, Simplemail
    or something else.

What we need is a "MorphOS Companion CD." Something kind of like the DOpusPLUS CD for Opus Magellen. That would include a number of the essentials that cannot be included in the OS for some reason or another. Maybe it should be done by a third party for that matter...

I agree. And we do not want only one mailer but many mailers!
SimpleMail, YAM, Pine, all of them :-)

 No, not the superbundle, but a "companion cd" which would be made by some third party. I don't think it would be a good idea for Genesi to get into the reproducing shareware/freeware collection cd's. However, something like this would be of great benefit to Pegasos owners.

    Hi DJBase,

In what way is SimpleMail better than YAM?
Just an open question because I don't know anything about SimpleMail :-)

I tried both Simplemail and YAM, I still
like the feel of YAM a bit better, but
Simplemail is good too and has some other
good features like the quick address
    window.
They both worked great once configured properly.

Voyager sucks: I can not use it because the proxy settings is not working, most of the frames in framed web sites are blank, ... I can not see my home page because of the frames, and even a small flash is not working (supposedly supported flash).

BUT - SORE NA NONI - PERO:
it comes shipped with MorphOS (even when Morphos comes with no TCP/IP stack at all).

Why a randomly chosen mailer such as YAM can not be shipped within MorphOS? The CD is almost empty! Some open source wouldn't hurt.

I spent last month just downloading basic software... (I have to make a list for the Morphos HowTo in my home page: Miami, YAM, snoopdos, scout, fixfonts, ...)

PS. I (prefer/have to use because the proxy stuff reason) IBrowse, even not being PPC native.
Pegasos II G3@600Mhz (no fan) 512MB RAM (1 slot)

-- Minuet Slimline PC case -- MorphOS 1.4.5 + Gentoo

If I would have to choose between YAM and SimpleMail.. I'd take YAM any time.
I also have SimpleMail installed.. anyone can say a couple reasons why I should switch from YAM to SM?

Why anyone would bother with either YAM or SM is beyond me, MicroDot
works just fine, threads mail, has great filters, has great arexx
    support, and is MorphOS Native.

Yam works just fine, has great filters, has 20-30 arexx commands and is MOS native.

    Next! :)

Yam's Arexx commands are kind of crashy here. :-( Does SM have arexx
    support?
