    Hello
I'm trying to use the very cool program by lovely and talented Elena called Zone Exporer. The program seems slow to me - the redraws and doing effects. Is this how it works or is it a bad config?

I'm pretty sure it's just the "nature of the beast" with this sort
of thing. I remember in the A500 days, it would take several days
(or more) to generate mandelbrots...only not as nice. :) Even resizing
an image is time consuming due to the amount of data which needs
reprocessing. I would assume that if ZX were to acquire AltiVec
support, things would speed up a bit (but don't quote me ;)).

Dear Magnetic, if you think something's going wrong with my software, why don't you tell it to me privately ??

Nobody ever stated that ZX is a realtime zoomer!
Please, please, read the docs :)

OTOH, if you thing PegII is not as much faster as you expected running ZX... well, I don't know why but that's quite true. Perhaps the G4 versus G3 is not so faster concerning pure FPU operations...

Thanks for your response. I wasn't saying there was something wrong with your program. I thought I was doing something wrong or had incorrect settings. I will RTFM...

while i haven't done a test with time, my "feeling" is that ZoneXplorer seems to be as fast on the Peg1 (that's all i have, folks) as on my WinUAE. more or less.
    it certainly doesn't seem SLOWER.

why it could be slower on a Peg2 doesn't seem to make much sense, but I'm certainly Not a hardware person - esp concerning this system.

the only thing that seems to "slow" down redrawing on this peg is using antialiasing. (and not by much)
but that should really come as no surprise. otherwise it's fast as all heck!
     :-D

I've seen ZX running on both Peg-1-G3 and Peg-2-G4 next to each other and it sure was faster on Peg2...

It's running quick here and the G4 does
give it a boost. But seeing some visible
redrawing is normal since it takes time to
    calculate nice fractals. :)
