    Hello
Since upgrading to my Pegasos2 I have exprienced a serious problem. Mplayer with my DVD drive keeps crashing! My spec is Peg2 G4/Vooodoo3500 agp/ and LG 8161b DVD. It ran great on Peg1. What happens now is it will play for about 10mins then just freeze up. Ppl told me it was the ide bug but i've tried many different configs with secondary and master and still same problem.. Any help is appreciated/

    Thanks for the report Todi

It would be great if people could post what DVD players they have working with Mplayer with decss. This includes Combo drives. This will prove to be a valuable resource for new peg users. Also, has anyone done a more recent build of mplayer?

    Well, so far I've tried:

    Samsung SD-816 :does not work

Lite - On XJ-HD166S :does not work

I'm trying yet another drive later, but if it also doesn't work I'm
done with it, I'm starting to feel a bit ridiculous about the whole
thing...:/..is it my Pegasos?..is it the DVD players? Is it mplayer?
...all I know is I'm done playing detective...I've spent hours and
hours and about 80 bucks, I think I'll check back when DVD support
under MOS has matured a bit more..ie, set jumper, hook up drive,
    insert disc and "go"..:P

I am not sure the drive or the IDE bus is the problem!
I am using a Samsung 16x DVD drive. with Mplayer .91 I get
lockups when playing from the DVD, But... I have used the
same drive to transfer .VOB files to my Harddrive in excess of
1 GIG in size, then they play fine. Although I have had
one or two lockups from the harddrive, the one consistent
thing is that all small files play fine from both medias.
If someone has a gig of Ram they could try to play from
the ramdrive?? then we would know for sure, unfortunately
I only have 256 for now.

Also please explain the nature of the "ide bug?"

Guys guys! Dont you know dvd movies are meant to be played on a proper dvd-player next to a good a/v-system, and not on a gay ass monitor with crappy desktop speakers :-P

I have tested the MPlayer on my pegII.
The MPlayer does not crash at all.
    Im using a Sony DVD-ROM DDU1621 with a ATI Radeon 8500 card.
    :-?
..there will be only one left.

    Allright Guys!

Lets keep this thread going. Mplayer is very picky about the dvd drive for decss access. I know for a fact this drive works:

LG 8161B 16x DVD Rom - its still available and cheap and good! It has good LInux support which is why it probably works with Mplayer!
