    Hi,

Since reinstalling MOS1.4, I can't get simple mail to load anymore.

I get a dialogue box with "could not create mui custom classes".
I tried reinstalling mui but it didn't help.

    Any ideas?

Are you running snoopdos? I'd start by running snoopdos and see what
    mui class simplemail can't find.

How did you try reinstalling MUI?

    @DSLCC:

Snoopdos seems to be looking for "Betterstring.mcc".

I reinstalled mui from an old AF CD.

    Thanks,
    Robert.

You can get betterstring class off of aminet. That's what you
need..copy it into your SYS:Classes/MUI Directory. Guy's correct me if
I'm wrong here, but I don't think it is a good idea to reinstall MUI.
The version of mui that comes with Morphos is 3.9PPC and the version
that you can download is 3.8 68k. I'm thinking that it is likely that
instaling MUI 3.8 has at least messed up your MUI assigns in user
    startup.

There is no such thing as an MUI-assign in the standard MOS-install, as
all things MUI are searched in MOSYS: 1st. Some apps may complain bout the
missing assign, but you can't overrule a PPC-MCC in mosys: with an 68k-one, no
matter where you install that (well o.k. you "win" if you override the PPC-version, by
putting the 68k right in it's place) ;-)

May have stated this incorrectly. I understand that there is not an assign for MUI in MOS 1.4. But if he installed MUI 3.8 - there is an assign now - added by the MUI 3.8 installer that will override the proper paths.

    Simple answer, don't use SimpleMail.

    [edit long answer]
As I use MicroDotII, and SimpleMail's attachments do not get along with MicroDotII--I'm not too fond of SimpleMail.

    I just reinstalled MOS1.4.
Now when I try to install Miami, I get "You need to install MUI3.8..."

Is there something that needs to be done with the built in MUI that I'm missing?

Go into the install script and
suppress the control of mui 3.8
and after all is good, i hope.
Or copy all files manually on your HD.

miami works with my mui3.9 :)

Use mui shipped with morphos, its the best one you can get.
If some classes are missing, download them here:
    http://www.zerohero.se/mui/download.php
    and copy to sys:classes/mui
don't mess with mossys:, don't create any mui: assigns.

OK but is there something I need to do to get it working?
Or should it be running automatically from the MOS install?

Oh yeah, the newer SimpleMail doesn't seem to create the problems I've seen before :-) Yaay!

About MUI 3.8, see what that installer is looking for, either through the script itself or through snoopdos. Then you can either doctor the installer, or make a temporary assign.

I'm new to MOS, so i could have this wrong, but in my efforts to get ZoneXplorer to work on MOS4.1 I examined all the files in this pegasos. It came with files on it (i didn't install anything).

I removed everything in the sys:classes dirs.
I then took only the classes files in classact33.lha and copied them manually to sys:classes/
all the gadget files, all the image files and classes files.

I didn't copy CA or the CA prefs or have any assigns made. no libs, nada.

after I did that ZoneXplorer worked fine.
