Hi,

I want to step in the (perhaps) interesting world called newsgroups.

I'm totally new in this area, so can anybody help me by explaining how it works, which piece of software I can use to receive it and so on?

download newscoaster from Aminet.

1. Read the Manual

2. Configure it similiar like you eMail Client.

3. Add a news server (e.g. the newsserver from your ISP or a public newsserver)

4. Check newsgroup list and select the groups you're interested in.

5. Fetch News.

Then u can read, reply, send etc. like in a normal eMail-Program...

Thank you for the "manual".
I searched on the net for newsgroups and read about binaires and UnRAR things and all, so I had no clue what to expect, that's why I posted this question.

There is also an online service that a lot of people use called "Deja
news". I've always used newscoaster or microdot for nntp news myself.

I think AWeb has a news plugin, but I haven't touched it in years.

dejanews is since a long time google groups, but afaik no public news server anymore just via web/http interface. Or I didn't found the right server adress out yet. :)
