If the forum software cannot handle these errors then it would be needed to handle them better. In other forums that I remember a "wrong" quoting does not break the layout.

The "-" gets replaced by a smiley face and the link breaks. Adding it using the url= code completely breaks it

The forum software should handle irregular quotation tags a bit better now, i.e. they are not converted to HTML. (See above.)
