I have a few old SATA drives lying around that I'd love to use. Can I use these with a simple adapter for my G4 MDD, or are there some other issue that would prevent that?

As a follow up question, is there a practical limit to the size of hard drives usable, and size of individual partitions with MOS?

    Any adapter should work.

SFS has a 128GB partition limit IIRC. I think your MoprhOS System partition may have to be 128GB or smaller. After that you can use IceFS for partitions as big as you like.

AFAIK, someone will correct me if I am wrong.

The drives I have sitting about are 500 GB but if i have to chop it into multiple partitions that's not such a big deal. Mostly it's just for getting a bunch of old video stuff off the old, mostly dead PC and unto the G4

    Oh, and thanks!

Looks like an adapter is only a few bucks off ebay, so I am grabbing one, and we'll see :)

The SATA to IDE adapters do all the heavy lifting in hardware, no driver needed. I have never heard of anyone have a problem using one.

Just in case you want to try it, here's IceFS:
