    I just installed Morphos on my old G4-500DP Mac. I'm having some issues with that machine and no sound. I have a newer G4-800DP Mac but I have Sonnet SATA controller in it. I believe the controller makes the Mac think it is a SCSI drive. Short of me attempting an install does anyone know if this will work or would I have to install Morphos on an ATA drive?

    The Sonnet should be Sil3112 based which is supported with MorphOS3.x.

    The only other user with such a card I know of seems to have some minor problems while my unflashed PC card works flawless (but I have to use a CF-card on the IDE bus for the boot: partition).

    Short:
    Bootb the CD and see if MorphOS sees the SATA-HD.

    As Kronos pointed out, you're going to need an IDE boot partition.
    But a simple CF or SD to IDE adapter could handle that.

    I too have an unflashed PC SATA card and it works perfectly.

    @Jim

    He has a Sonnet (AKA Mac-compatible SATA-card) so there should be no need for an extra boot-drive.

    I have no idea wether Sonnet offered SATA-cards with other chipsets but my QS came with a nameless Mac-SATA+ATA133 card that is not supported under MorphOS.

    So again:
    Boot the CD and see if MorphOS sees the SATA-HD.

    You're right.
    I didn't think about that.
    I only have Sonnet card I have is a Tempo SATA X4P, which I don't think is supported (and can't be booted from anyway).

    Sory Kronos.
