I have a problem since I upgraded to a Sonnet 1.8, I can use my optical drive in MorphOS. Assuming the Sonnet patch is the problem because the problem wasn't there before I had it.

I see some others who have such an upgrade talking about patching from withing OS9 and as such, while I just could patch from within OSX10.4 Tiger. SG4KG-1800-B01 REV E is the revision I have and this is the patch I used http://www.sonnettech.com/support/downloads/software/sonnet_firmware_updater_v31.pkg.zip

What is your revision and what pacth did you use ?

I did the patch twice (in Leopard) because gcc kept giving me strange errors. Turned out the 2x1.6GHz Sonnet Encore/ST Duet (SG4D-1600) is clocked waaaay too high for the stock cooling. Replacing the stock cooler did the trick. This was on Quicksilver 2001 (latest firmware). No problems with optical drive.

I swapped the original fan with a faster one that is used for a pentium4 and inverted it blows on the heatsink instead of pulling air out of the box. Cooling is ok and in MACOSX I have no problems. I guess my only option, if I want to use the Sonnet, is to get me another Powermac and hope all works fine in there.

After patch, my 1.8 Ghz Sonnet ran fine on my Quicksikver, I'm not experiencing any problems.

I used the OSX patck, applied using using the online drections. The printed directions refer to a "power key" ( that many Mac keyboards don't have).
It was pain free. Boot OSX, intall patch, shut sown, install Sonnet upgrade and reboot.

I received the entire package with original box, software on CD, and printed instructions. I installed OS 10.4 to a spare hard drive and ran the CD installer to patch the motherboard. Rebooted fine. Shutdown. Put in 1.8 sonnet and rebooted again. Worked fine. Put amiga HD back in and works great. I have a quicksilver 2002 2x1.0ghz that I upgraded. I could email you the patch off of the original CD.

I am going to get a Digital Audio Powermac this evening, lets see what it does inthere. I do get occasional lock ups in MACOSX also.

So I have put the Sonnet in my Powermac 3.4 ... and everything works without problems. Even this one works with 1.5gb and even beats the Quiksilver 2002 with the memtest.
