This is the last thing on my pet peeve list.

(I bought the same scanner as zukow so now I can finally stop fighting with bad drivers and SCANdal just plain works.) :-)

I would like to be able to download ISOs and burn them.
    That is all.
    CD or DVD.

Frying Pan burned an ISO (MorphOS 2.6) and the directory listing was right but the files were filled with junk.

I have a licensed copy of MasterISO and it can select the burner device but cannto start burning.

I heard makeCD would work but only with CDs.

    What works first, suggestions second.

    Thanks

MasterISO doesn't work here, too (well, the actual program works, hdd access works, too, but no CDR access). Neither on Mac mini nor on Pegasos. Never did.
MakeCD works for the CD side pretty well - but haven't tried DVDs myself (no dvd burner here).

afaik, FryingPan works flawlessly, but you have to register, it's not a free software. I burnt lots of cd images with no troubles...

    bye, MarK.

    The project is dead.

Woot! MorphOS is so mature, it's starting to ship with non-system tools, like disc burners! This is good news.

That might or might not be true, but that is not what jacadcaps wrote and may not be what he meant.

Do you have other information/sources that show the MorphOS Development Team will be providing a CD/DVD burning program included within the MorphOS2.8 release that I have just not seen yet?

His quote might mean that there is some part of MorphOS2.8 that has been fixed that makes CD/DVD burning work better from other third party software.

The application has already been demoed on some shows, so it's no secret: 2.8 is mostly likely going to feature a disc burning application.

Has it burned to a blank cd in a usb external drive without hanging the system? Be great if that's fixed.

Erm, the application won't automagically fix any hw or driver problems.

This is the first that I have read about it.

Nice addition and a surprise to me.

Nice approach, definitely :) Could you give a rough list of included features?

Then I guess there is not much hope of the problems related to atapi driver for the Pioner DVD-RW DVR-K05 drive would be fixed in 2.8 either?

I'm not sure we have this drive to test.

Whopee... I was right! Thankyou Jacek for al this information. Is it a separate application, or has ambient some added function for disc burning? I love to select some files, click right button, and have a menu opcion to toast them. I even have it in my Windows PC, with Alex Feinman's lovely "CreateCD" command line tool. Could you provide a similar tool in MorphOS?

It's a separate application. I still have to think about integrating it with Ambient.

What I was illuding to is getting the freezing issue fixed in 2.8 release, so we can completely enjoy a new application without hiccups. This has been an issue (at least on mine and a couple other sys, ) where usb drives freezes the system when a blank cd/dvd is placed in. It's not a hw issue, as i have multiple usb drives (under own power) which did the same thing, going back to release 2.2 How is it a driver issue either, if the drive reads data from the cd? I'm just saying it should be addressed.

Just tested, same thing happens with my Samsung drive.

Since that annoyed me I went into my crap-box and dug out an ancient CD-RW. Hooked it via USB-Adapter, same result (both drives work with filled CDs).

When testing the old drive I had Poseidon-prefs opened and the last message was "trying to mount unit 0 via MorphOS mount.library". Might be a possible point to start the search for the culprit.

    Really GREAT news!

I very often need to copy/duplicate video DVD's. For know I'm able to do this with FryingPan but could you also includ such a function in this new application? Would be important as I need often 50 and more copies of a video DVD I produce (including the film menu, chapter menu, etc).

    Thanks.

I don't really have any non-encrypted video DVDs, so I didn't try that really. Perhaps worth testing...
