hi to all!!! i have a dude if is possible this. I View the gigabite i-ram PCI expansion, http://techreport.com/articles.x/9312 if possible a memory expansion like that on a efika 5k2 system by pci? Efika is a very good machine with a very very low power but with only 128mb is a lot of limited and my question is... can be upgraded theoretically with a similar expansion slot by pci on a efika with a by-pass pci for plugin the gfx board at the same time?

    Thanks

This device is not a RAM expansion. It just acts as an extremely fast disk drive. Then you need a driver for it.

From what I've read, it's actually an ATA device, just like a hard drive, or better, a solid state drive that instead of flashRAM uses SDRAM, and a Li-Ion battery.
Why does it plug to a motherboard slot? I understand it would get power and data through its ATA connector.

It is SerialATA, takes data via SerialATA port. PCI is used for two things: power supply and physical mounting.

yes is a ultra fast SATA with RAID support but is very rare becouse have expansion memory with DDR2 and you can plugin on any "pc" with a slot pci free. This is a video starting XP with i-ram and with 1gb inside of the pci card http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b4jFpIt6bw8&feature=related my question is... if possible a expansion memory by pci on a efika, for example? no the i-ram to the efika just the idea of the ram upgrade but i can imagine the time to load morphos with this rare expansion... 0,00001micro/second :P

I guess Efika does not support IDE->SATA bridges. For Pegasos it may work IMO. Not sure if it is worth the price for Pegasos as speed will be limited by its IDE controler anyway.

Even when the power is off? Would be rather useless HD replacement if you automatically lost everything each time you shut down :-)

    From the page:

Fortunately, the card can draw enough juice from a motherboard's PCI slot to keep its four DIMM slots powered, even when the system is turned off. The system does have to be plugged in and its power supply turned on, though.

    lose everything when powered down?...
i thought the 10 hour Li-Ion battery, was for hold data in the ram when powered down
not for l.e.d internal lighting or such like but i could be wrong.
