SD card to IDE converters have recently popped into existence and I'm wondering if anyone has tried them on their Amiga/MorphOS hardware? Do SD cards tend to have the same issue that some CF cards have when an attempt is made to use an RDB partition table instead of the default MBR?

I don't have any answers to your questions, but I do have another question. Has anyone seen an adapter like the one shown linked to the Vesalia ad that has a female connector for the IDE, instead of the male pins. I am thinking that with the female connector, the ribbon cable could be eliminated, which is a good thing in an Efika.

IDE driver on efika have a big cpu overhead. Doing intensive I/O on the disk eat most of the cpu and performances are not that high. Going for a NAS with smbfs is a better solution IMO than putting a big disk inside.

My current setup is CF to IDE with a 2Gb card which is enough to store system & apps. Sadly, smbfs have trouble with the samba version embedded in my NAS (Synology). I have no trouble to access windows share but I don't have anymore windows @home.

but is the network driver fast? I tried to download data from a friend's ftp server on a LAN and speed wasn't impressive, perhaps because data was being saved to the hard disk. Does your ethernet100 network reach 7-8MB/s?

I don't have any numbers in mind right now as I can't access the NAS with smbfs. I did some FTP test and maxed the wifi bridge speed IIRC (around 1Mbyte/s, the AP is far from the wifi spot) with much lower cpu overhead than IDE driver. Slower than IDE but much lower cpu overhead. Trade off ?

I guess you can have much better speed transfert with wired ether instead of wifi. When Morphos was not available on Efika, I was used to play with some linux. I maxed the efika's ether to 9Mb/s with some HTTP stress tool.

My NAS can give a 7Mb/s speed which is not bad. I feel depressed because I can't use it with smbfs... :(

Anyone have some numbers about IDE speed on Efika & hard drive ?

    Did you try Piru's patch?

Mhh.. seems it was added to sourceforge, but no ("official") new binary yet.

Didn't. I am aware of piru's patch but there is no binary yet. Do someone have built it ? If built, would be nice to share.
