I own my peg2 since 3 years and half and I use it daily 3 to 4 hours, sometimes 6 hours. What is the battery lifetime in these use conditions ? What will happend when the battery will be in low voltage ? Will the peg be able to boot at least to open firmware ? When changing the battery will open firmware settings be preserved or not ?

the battery can last long up to 10 years, but it's safe to change it after 5 years.

Easy: Replace battery with care, when system is running. Can it be dangerous?

Recommending a user to mess with the pegasos sensitive parts while IT IS running is always a bad idea.

It fairly easy indeed. If you feel unsecure about your battery may be slowly getting dead, just buy a new one, and just replace it ( while the machine is powered off, of course )

AFAIK -AFAIK- the ram powered by the battery, lasts at least, a minute to get erased by lack of power (aka missing baterry) , so IMO you have enough time to replace it.
