    Hello,

    I read an old post about this but am still having problems. I download the Sarge Debian ISO, the one that installs over the internet.

    I install the base system then follow instuctions on mounting my AFFS partition to copy kernal to it but get error every time! I also tried using Giggledisk under MOS to mount ext3 but that doesn't work either!!!

    A little more info here;

    Pegasos 1 with April 2 fix G3 2x512Mb ram
    250gig Maxtor IDE / Liteon DVD/RW x20
    Radeon 9250

    Hard drive is partioned like this;

    Name_____Size_____Filesystem
    DH0 _____ 201Mb____FFS
    DH1 ______1Gb______SFS
    DH2 ______10Gb_____SFS
    / _________26Gb_____ext2
    noname____ 1Gb______swap

    I don't mind formating the whole system if need be.
    Also I see in the SCSIConfig under Filesystem that there is a (AFS 0) should I be using that instead of (FFS) for my boot partition?

    Thanks,

    I'm also looking forward to up to date instructions as to how to install a Debian on a Peg 1 :) Followed old ones, got plenty of issues with kernel versions / X versions etc.

    I don't remember the exact procedure, but there are good instructions in the Pegasos Book. Try checking that out and see if it helps.

    Well, I did follow the guide, but it's out-of-date as far as the Peg1 Linux installation is concerned, it seems.

    The installation went fine until the first reboot. Then, the problem is that the debian repositories implied a kernel switch, but this went wrong. I don't recall the exact issues (did that a couple of weeks ago), I can try again to be more accurate :)

    I guess I have to force the use of old repositories, but then I wonder if my radeon 9250 will be supported.

    Thanks for your replies :)

    iirc, to get Linux (and X11) working properly on Pegasos 1, you need to manually disable DRI from /etc/X11/xorg.conf

    That's where my installation failed long ago.

    The distupgrade from sarge to etch is a bit problematic on Pegasos1.
    You could change the /etc/apt/sources to sarge.
    Then you have at least a working system and you can try to upgrade later on and compile the kernel yourself.
    If your Peg1 does not have a MAC address like mine, then a bit more work is neccessary.

    So is there any tested and working version of any Linux for Pegasos 1? I got various distros on my Peg2 but my Peg1 remains only with MorphOS 2.4 and 1.4.5 wish I got the chance to try a Linux on this machine. Have tried the same Debian, Ubuntu and OpenSUSE distros I am using on Peg2 but with no success even on the booting of the install software.

    Any updates or instructions? Thanks in advance!
