USB devices not working ( iriver and joypad adapter )

So i got some problems with Poseidon.
Running version 3.2 on MOS 1.4.5, very recent ambient.

First i tried the joypad adapter, is a psx/ps2/gamecube/dreamcast USB adapter.
Works fine in windows, but poseidon finds it and cant bind a class to it.
Ive checked so i have hid.class and is the correct version.
Forcing bind doesnt work at all.
I have this same problem with another crappy USB joypad also.

The iriver is a iHP-120 old version, again poseidon finds it, this time it binds massstorage.class to it, but then fails to mount the filesystem.
Maybe this is something i could fix ?

If anyone can help me out that would be great, and just let me know if you need more info.

Do you have Fat installed in your L: directory??

If so, then play with the mass storage prefs in Poseidion like enabling Simple scsi or something like that..

If not go on Aminet and download Fat95

Dunno what is old version... I started IIRC with iRiver firmware V1.29. Now am using 1.65 and will upgrade to 1.66 and Rockbox. Anyway, had with all those firmwares no probs with Poseidon (V2).
I'll post my mass storage settings for the iRiver later when home again.

Dont think firmware is your problem If you dont have Fat in L: no mass storage will work. do you have it or no?

No ideas with that little information. You could at least provide a UsbDevlister and UsbErrorlog output. My guess is: hid.class is not even loaded (i.e. not in the list of classes).

That is your problem then. You see, you need the Fat filesystem for mass storage devices which are meant for pcs. So go on aminet and get it as instructed earlier.

As far usb<>psx adaptor I have one that works and is recognized by the New Poseidon (Thanks Platon 8-D)
Its a Radio shack psx<>usb adaptor. I do have to say that I think these adaptors use some voodoo to get them working and some work and some dont with mos.

Platon42 : yes i answered in this thread before the site crash but the post naturally dissapeared, ive also emailed you twice.
I dont know what these logs are that youre talking about, the only poseidon log ive seen is the message log.
Anyway, hid.class IS in the list in poseidon, and it has version 3.2

If you just point me to these logs ill paste them in this thread.

I just saw you solved your probs with the iriver. Just a side notice: If using "Ripper" to rip your cds better convert them to ogg than to mp3. The mp3s made with ripper (I guess it uses lame) lead to a little quantisation noise when relayed with the iRiver, but the ogg files sound that brilliant the iRiver is famous for (And justifiably so - I admit) .

Thats what i get for beeing a morphos n00b isnt it?? =)

Seems i jumped the gun on the celebration.
The adapter is found, but i havent been able to make any of the joypads work with it, psx/ps2 and gamecube tested.
psx/ps2 dpad behaves like a analog stick for some reason, and maybe its just a matter of configuration.
The gamecube has the dpad at buttons 13 - 16 but when i assign them to the directions, the dont work at all in mame.

Rumor has it there is a thread here on MZ about configuring joypads already, but i cant find it. =P

Rumor says also, that the Picture below maybe can help you.

    http://batteman.free.fr/amiga/hid3.2.png

It is also said that the Picture/Link is out of this thread.

    https://morph.zone/modules/newbb_plus/viewtopic.php?topic_id=4190&forum=10

Some very, very secret information even i had problems to find is in this secret thread.

    http://64.233.179.104/search?q=cache:LhUwszknJjAJ:morph.zone/modules/newbb_plus/viewtopic.php%3Ftopic_id%3D4345%26forum%3D9+Morphos+Joypad&hl=de&gl=de&ct=clnk&cd=1

It's so secret that it is not on MorphZone any more!
<More Water on the Rumor Mill=off>

I don't know if this is the information you need, the last thread is only in Google Cache due to the site crash. If the link is only temporary, try to search Google with "MorphOS Joypad" it should be the first hit. I must admit that i did not find the threads in MorphZone search either, only in Google....and thats because i knew they had to be somewhere.

Ok this isnt funny, everytime i turn my back someone is here fixing stuff ... that setup ( which is default btw ) did NOT work earlier, not even when making all the bindings in mame ... hrm ... oh well, now it works =)
Havent tried analog but beeing able to play gunbird 2 is great.

It seems its true what they say, i DO type faster than i think.

Maybe there was some minor difference in the setup, if it's working now - great.
And don't mind the typing/thinking thing. I often ask questions, when i can not solve a Problem, and then realise i found the answer after asking the question only halfway.

    Have Fun

    hello there,

i just bought iriver T30, but (ofcourse) it doesn't mount on my peg... under windows it's type is sth like mobile media device, not the massstorage device... is there a way to access those files under MorphOS?

    thanks in advance.

    bye, MarK.

That iRiver is probably an MTP device.

    http://groups.yahoo.com/group/highway_usb/message/2090

Funnily enough, Microsoft themselves have inofficially dropped MTP, as the Microsoft Zune player does not support it (nor that other PlaysForSure stuff).
    Bye...

    hi,

i investigated a bit, and discovered, that mtp can be simply changed to ums, and it seams to work without any troubles :-) just use the iriverfirmware updater, and click mtp->ums :-) works flawlessly with my iriver t30...

    thanks and bye, MarK.
