Thanks for all the help, advice and tips from everybody. The search is on, and whilst I know much better what I'm looking for, I'm sure there'll be more questions to come :)

The entire thread was an informative read as to the Powerbook and 3.0. The team has all in control and it is just a matter of a little more time. Es geht mir ausgezeitlich..excuse the pun :-D

There are no problems with the hardware, nor is the MorphOS team is not able!

The release was planned for December but was postponed because a complete package at the time was possible.

The reasons are much more banal than the ones listed here. Developers had accidents were professionally so occupied and there were other logistical problems that have just brought the development clearly in default.

The fact that the announced devices are old, makes a driver development any easier, especially as the "infrastructure" needed a lot of laptop components, it did not exist to date on an Amiga system. There are sensors, display brightness control, fan controllers, battery management, Touchpadunterstützung, etc, whose hardware is partially controlled via bus systems, in turn need the driver. Important drivers are real and not a patch with Linuxgemurkse in the startup-sequence. Only the system remains small and fast. Everything should be clean eringebunden into the existing system philosophy. The experience "MorphOS" should be on the laptop the same as on a Pegasus or a mini.

There are not "only" four laptop models known to be supported. These models have up to 6 different revisions, all of which have their own idiosyncrasies again. Here the sound is different because you have to turn the network and there is the display brightness differently regulated, and so on.

Then there are the normal work on the OS bugs fixed, extend existing components and add new applications and tools to customize installer, make local, writing documentation, collect release forms. Beta versions are distributed to the testers and bugs fixed again. In parallel, the SDK will be maintained and kept current.

The MorphOS team tries to put a round thing on the CD. This includes icons and neat presentation.

Stable running MorphOS for ages on the new machines. Not for nothing, almost all developers have been working hard on exactly these computers, so it can be assumed that the PowerBook to the Pegasus are probably best be tested systems.

Last but not least. It is MorphOS MorphOS 2.x. 3 and not The update will be bigger and even if it's not all what was planned would create in 3.0 are still plenty of things in the pipeline, which will surprise some people still so in 2012.

The problems are eliminated and the entire team is working hard on a release as soon as possible. This is however by no means pass on cost of quality.

Thanks for thread! What's hard for me:
    1) ...never saw any Apple computer of any kind in my area ever...
    2) ...never saw MorphOS around these parts ever...
    3) ...not a computer harware literate

It's kind of a 'strike three - you're out!" call towards trying MorphOS... sorry. You can see the amount of time and energy that would have to be expended to do what ... sample it?

Until a alien decides move into my area and actually threaten me with demostration of MorphOS, i'm going to pass...sorry.

Finding a 1.5GHz Mac Mini can be tricky since they aren't labeled. But that can make an ideal compact system.

Didn't read whole thread if this has been given, but saw this source of 1.5GHz minis on other forum:

No personal experience of that seller though...

I saw that on Amiga.org, but since Geeks mentioned that it was in limited supply I didn't think to mention it.

    @ jPV and all,

I printed-out my message# 55 and began eating it! LOL...

Well, guess what - I'm now just getting started too. I have a very nice unregistered MacMini/MOS 2.7 system thanks to Acill_MOS. Got a million questions about it, but I'll ask them in a different forum. Nice looking system...
