It's possible to raise gpu/ram frequency with a flashrom editor to match real core speed. http://thomas.perrier.name/graphiccelerator.html

I've read a pair of success stories using retail 128MB DDR ATI Radeon 8500 original boards that can be reflashed with ATI reflash tool and the full 128MB can be accessed. http://macosx.com/forums/hardware-peripherals/21413-radeon-8500-a-2.html

-edit- later I have read that when the 65th MB is accessed the system it will fail.

Here there are claims that roms don't support 8500 models with "square" package ram chips.

R8500 Mac Edition runs at 275Mhz so slower pc cards using right package may require decreasing gpu/ram frequency.

full broken 3D graphics or completely black output video in 3D (no graphics at all)

sure; if you need I can also send you a 9250 one
tell me also if I need to test something

    thanks
    regards

I am having the same issue. Have two 9200SE cards (Maybe they are 9250?) And 2D is fine, but all 3d is broken. Draws random white lines and black background.

I have just flashed a 9200 256mb card and a 9250 256mb card, the 9200 has 128k and has been flashed with a 128k retail rim and works perfect in 2d and 3d in both morphos and mac os x, the 9250 only has a 64k rom chip and I used the hacked rom and that need drivers for os s but also works perfect under morphos in 2d and 3d and also shows as a 256mb card in both, I have tried doom3 and rtcw is there any thing else I can try that uses 3d?
I have some 128k rom chips but no idea what jumper to set to use them instead of 64k ones.
    both cards are sapphire ones

No need to change any jumpers, just replace the chip.
