You seem to be fixated on my "pathetic G4 in 2013" comment. Let me clarify - the G4, by 2013 will be pathetic in comparison to whatever is available in 2013. It will probably not have the ability to run whatever new bloatware crap people will have added to web pages by that time. It also will be a minimum of 10 years old. How long can it last?

I am certainly not saying the G4 was a pathetic computer to port MorphOS to. It's brilliant that MorphOS runs on G4 - but in a few years it will be as ancient as an Amiga 500 was in 2000 (still fun and mildly useful, but severely limited in what it can do). It will seem pathetic and ancient. A G5 would probably have the CPU power to remain useful for a few years more.

Now how is that "trying to pick a fight"?

My Quad G5 @ 2.5Ghz will be pathetic in 2013 too.. The last lot of Opera, Flash, Fire Fox* all require an Intel processor and this will only get worse when Lion comes out.

Anyway, I've tried a unregistered mac dual 433 (or was it 533? Who cares?) and it was incredible faster than the rather memory limited Efika.

*I know there's a port that works, but it crashes the last time I tried it, and and it's only Firefox, the Harlem Globetrotters of the browser world..

No, you weren't. People here say they find a 2011 release of MorphOS for G5 Macs unlikely, which you turn into some crap claiming "people here keep saying it's unlikely that MorphOS will ever be available for G5". Do you really find that logical?

Deservedly I'd say, at least partly.

That would depend on the specific G4 variant. The MPC7447A/B in my Mac mini will be less than 10 years old by 2013.

That would be 2018 for my Mac mini. I'm pretty sure we'll have G5 Mac support by then.

not really, we seem to be helping Rodomoc, just that you're new here, and stirring up expectations...
Since non of the developers have commented yet, we'll just wait and see. right now my mini runs everything barring the mkv videos which i
download. Personally, I'd like to see a port to a new, not newer setup. Lastly, Andreas didn't label you, but like I said, judging from your number of posts,
you are new, and may not necessarily know these matters develop here. It sounds like you are not even running a morph os setup.

There're several projects compiling FF4 for PowerPC MacOSX, the most notable one being TenFourFox due to its JavaScript JIT. It works superb on my Mac mini G4.

Crashes like anything on mine..

Anyway...

Due to some eBay, incidents I've got hold of a Dual 1.42 Mac with 2 GB of memory and ATI Radeon 9000 Pro graphics card, when I try to boot from the CD burnt on the same cd drive as I'm booting from (2 different CD-rw both verified) it starts from CD, shows the white screen telling the CPU information, then it just stops,

quarrk.Open Firmware
Console Active
System <powermac 3,6> rev <>
CPU 0 <PPC7455 blah blah..

Any ideas why?

Replaced the CD drive and working perfect!

Now to get the money for the MorphOS licence..

BTW it's only a minor exaggeration to say that the Powermac after the 30 minute timeout feels like the registered Efika version...[

I wouldn't call your "exagerration" a minimal one. I have both registered Efika (same as yours) and registered Mac Mini (prob'ly faster than your PM). Efika is few times slower, but still usable. When running in "expired demo" mode - both become unusable, period.

I think I tried to put a Smilely at the end of the post, but I obviously failed.

Anyway, the point is, Going from an Efika to a Powermac, in fact given my limited experince with a 533 one, Any powermac is a worthwhile upgrade.

I think most ppl here are confident G5 support will come. But most ppl here are guessing it will take some time until ready for release. Plus, the MorphOS team always emphasizes not to buy hardware for MorphOS unless officially listed as supported. G5 support is still tagged as "proof of concept" or "experimental". Probably G5 support will come but it'll take time still.
About the G4: Yes, they are old and rather outdated generally, but the old lady still sings. In contrast to an A500 a G4 at well above 1 GHz can provide a nice every day usage experience. My G4/1500 gives me HD video playback, a good web experience (including rich content stuff as youtube or such) and I guess this will still be the case in a few years time. It is no powerhorse compared to current x86, but pretty useable. At least it should have more raw power than many current tablets and as much a netbook. These are no power horses as well, but they are *current* i.e. web content provider and such cater for devices of that power league (to which the old g4s belong, too).

But I think we all will welcome the G5 support once it comes. But until it eventually will come we *today* have lots of fun with our G4s or G3s or even 603es.
Waiting is void and boring, but action is great!
