I've seen something similar when I put my Mac Mini onto a less that good TV/monitor but it didn't detect the actual monitor, in that case I had to change the frequency, can't quite remember if it went from 60Ghz (mHz?) to 72, or was it the other way?

Anyway I had to change the screen frequency on both MorphOS and Mac OS X.

    > 60Ghz (mHz?)

Horizontal frequency would be kHz, vertical frequency would be Hz.

The question mark made it seem like a question :-)

As in, it's 60 something HZ, but I'm too busy to check. And if I do wait until I check there's a good chance I'll forget or just not bother so I thought post it in an semi-incomplete way, as it my help a brother out.

That's been my intention as well. If you don't appreciate that bit of information I gave I'm fine with that though.

So in my quest for multiple GFX card, I did another experiment today. I just scored 3 powermacs for parts today for 30€, one being an older PCI powermac with a PCI Ati Rage in it.

So I installed the Rage in my Powermac3.4 hoping it would work while my voodoo4 doesn't . Well no luck again ... I suppose that Ati rage driver doesn't work on pci cards ? The card doesn't appear in the preferences.
