I'm using temperature monitor for OS X. And the cooler temps probably was because I put very high quality arctic silver paste on there ($16 a small tube), the old stuff was crap
    My Macs:
    Powerbook G4 ALU 1.5GHZ 15" 1.5GB OSX.5.8
    Powermac G4 MDD 1.5GHZ OSX.5.8 MOS2.7

Want a part for a Mac? Let me know, I'll see what I can do.

Amithlon is amazing, questions and help I can provide.

So I decided to speed up my powermac as well. Got everything ready to go, had a beer to cool my shaking hands down ;) and..

My processor card is quite different than that one on bitsandpiecies.info.
Also my resistors on front and the back side are set up different.

According to bitsandpiecies they should be set the same. Also my setup doesn't work with that table on the site. What is going on? There is two pictures of my processor board:

The news about 2.5 not containing Powermac support is disappointing, but not completely surprising. I'm sure when it's ready, we'll receive it.

Thanks for the honest insight into the current state of MOS development.

Perhaps the extended delays in Powermac G4 support will temper the expectations of those who anticipate G5 support.

Eh, considering MorphOS 2.5 was released mid June 2010 it doesn't surprise me now. :-) Look at the date of the posts and you'll understand ;-)
BTW, PowerMac G4 support has been confirmed to be a feature of the 2.6 release, that now is the very next one. MorphOS 2.5 is, as of today, the current public release.

    Kind regards,
    Andrea

@pampers, I'm looking for the guide I used when I found this, I used bitsandpieces for PLL references. Hmm.. here: go to post #12 it will help you: http://forums.mactalk.com.au/10/49293-overclocking-powermac-mdd.html Lemme know if you have more issues?

Single 1.25ghz mdd at 1.5ghz (no voltage mod needed) red is closed and green is open:

    powermac15ghz.jpg

I used the same info as Dreamcast. Best (and only) guide for a single 1.25ghz mdd.

Dreamcast: but I have MDD 1.42 Dual, so that is not any good for me. Also did u check my pictures?

Edit: Oh balls, I though that the resistors are in order but they are not ;) Now everything seems to be correct according bo bitsandpiecies. Sorry for confusion lads.

It' NOT a good idea to overclock the CPU daughterboard of PowerMac FW800 and MDD ... these cards have high temperature (58, 62 C.) and in my test using also some Sonnet single and dual G4 @1600 and @1800 7447A, I have seen that a FW800 with original Apple dual G4@1420 7455 is (2Mb cache L3 for CPU) = at Sonnet Encore MDX dual G4@1600 7447A (no cache L3).

    regards

I've noticed that the temperature is about 61 degrees even with my Vertex cooling system. So you are saying just to leave it as it is?

Divinity is just warning you to make sure you know its at your own risk. Personally, if you have a copper heatsink, go right ahead, if you have verax heatsink, I'd get copper heatsink first :)

How far can i OC a MDD with Dual 1Ghz CPU?
    To 1.25 or more?
And where can i find a guide on how to do that?
Searched google but there are only guides for 833 or 1.25 or 1.42 Ghz cards.

So u mean that the missing L3 cache on the Sonnet Card made it as fast as a standard 1.4GHz MDD?

I have seen It's a little better Apple dual G4@1420 7455 vs dual G4@1600 7447 (in OSX and Linux).
    (yes dual G4@1420 7455 has 2048Kb L3 for CPU G4)

That's Quicksilver. ThePlayer has MDD. So I'm afraid this won't help him much.

Ok, so upgrading to 1,6 Sonnet may make sense, if you grad a "cheap" one.
Upgrading to 1.8 is horrible expensive, wont make sense if you say its a little better
