Hello today i ordered a powermac G4 PCI Yikes!.
The morphos 3.1 says that sound is only support in a few powermac g4 models.
I like to know what kind of sound card i can use in this machine.
Also i like to know if i install a pc pci 3dfx voodoo 4 4500 on the machine morphos could recognise it even if macos dont work on it.
    Thanks!.

This model is not supported by MorphOS.

Does it? Anyway, a detailed list can be found there:

Not on http://www.morphos-team.net/hardware at least, no idea why PCI model isn't listed as unsupported though. http://www.morphos-team.net/releasenotes/2.6 - Supported models list. As for Voodoo, there are some mac bioses for it, so you can try to reflash.

They should list it as unsopported, i already pay for the machine and is on the way here.
Unsupported means that it diden't boot or that they diden't test it ?.
Maybe theres some way to use it.

    I'd try it.
    If it works:

Again, SoundBlaster Live PCI sound card.
Treat yourself to an NEC based UBB 2.0 PCI card.
And you could even upgrade to SATA.

That depends. Usually, "unsupported" means that it is blacklisted and MorphOS is thus actively prevented from booting on such machine. However, like is the case with the PowerMac G4 Cube, it can happen that an "unsupported" model has not been added to the blacklist for whatever reason and thus MorphOS does indeed boot on the machine but there may be severe problems like for instance missing support for essential onboard components.

You are right! If it cannot work on the model of G4 PowerMac that you have purchased (the Yikes model), then a note should be added to the list of supported computers to clarify either that it cannot be used, or what is required to use that model. Like perhaps some others here, I thought that there was still a note that said to stay away from that model, but I don't see it where it should be, so I wonder if it is an oversight, or if there is a way to support it, but it is not described on that page?

Are you a programmer soviet? If you are and can show proof of some of your programming skills, such as completed programs, you may be able to borrow a MorphOS computer with the MorphOS3.1 registration included for free, and use it as long as you are creating or working on porting software to run on MorphOS3.x.

MOS 3.1 booted and ran on my G4 Cube. I tried it on that machine before settling on where I have MOS on now.

The "Yikes" G4s aren't really G4-PowerMacs, but leftover PowerMac-G3 motherboards fitted with a G4-CPU-module and packaged in a more conservative colored case.

Yeah, I know that won't help you, but I was in the mood for nitpicking ;)

I never tried MOS on a Yikes. The Cube is I guess considered a regular G4 : http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/powermac_g4/specs/powermac_g4_450_cube.html

I tried to boot the yikes! using alt from openfirmware and pressing C at boot time.
I get a organge screen telling me "console failed".

So i go out and buy another mac a AGP powermac G4 have a PPC 7450 733 cpu, it comes whit a geforce 2 videocard, so i installed the rage PCI video card from the yikes on it and i get the same error that i get on the YIKES!, "console failed" and some data about my cpu.

    Any ideas?

Not sure if that PCI-Rage is supported.

Depending on your location (sending to any ex-soviet-state is not an option ;) )I might have some known to working Radeons.

The 733MHz PMac should either be a Digital-Audio (blue/greenish case) or QuickSiver (grey/silver case) both should work without problems with those.

Why not? I just shipped a Power mac processor to Moscow.

Trade restrictions of the past are not a problem anymore.
The Russians should be able to buy anything I can buy.

Now shipping to Cuba, that might be a problem.
