My Apple keyboard got broken again and so did my access to MorphOS :-(

When I visit http://www.morphos.de/hardware.html, I lean actually nothing about supported models' specificity.

Going here for a change: http://www.morphos.de/faq.html yields

    Quote:

Q: My Apple USB keyboard does not appear to work. Why is that?
A: We have successfully tested Apple's A1048 and M7803 keyboards but discovered compatibility issues with the A1242 and A1243 models, which at present have to be considered incompatible with MorphOS.

So A1048 and M7803 are fine. Any others proven to work? What about this thing:

    http://sklep.ispot.com.pl/Apple_Keyboard__Intl__klawiatura_przewodowa__dluga_p1139.html

I need rapid help, perhaps I will go out and buy one in 90 minutes!
Was: Mac Mini PPC running MorphOS 2.4
Now: Amiga Forever 2010 with AmiKit and AmigaSYS
Not used: Icaros Desktop 1.2 (reason: no wifi)
    Planned soon: an OS4 system
Shortly then: a MOS notebook (wifi is a must-have)

    Hello,

I have seen a M2452 model in a second hand shop has anyone tested it?

If not i could take my mac mini in and test it but what tests do i need to do?
Does nothing work in morphos with an incompatible model?
or only specific keys dont work?

    thanks

    Martin

I think this maybe the model I have at home. I don't think I've actually tried it with my mac mini but I can test (and check model number) when I get home.

Isn't A1016 a bluetooth keyboard, anyway ? Well, that A1242/43 issue is related to some USB2 problem, at least. It has been addressed (and fixed) for the next update. Some USB1.1 hub inbetween might solve it until then. Those might be difficult to find by now, though ....

Sorry I don't seem to have an M2452 after all :(
Just two M7803's and two A1048's. I'm going to sell them off at some point as I don't use them.

    Thanks for checking.

Looks like i will have to take the mac mini in to the shop and figure out what happens.

What are the problems with incompatible keyboards?

Dont work at all or only some keys dont work like "option"?

Does it absolutely need to be Apple keyboard? All standard "PC" keyboards should work fine and there's lots of selection for your own personal taste. There may be problems with wireless ones, but any wired USB keyboard should work on both MorphOS and MacOSX.

I don't know if it's supported, but when my Apple keyboard failed (on my Powemac) I wanted a replacement immediately so I bought a Logitech USB keyboard. The cheapest of these is Classic Keyboard 200 and its available at most Walmarts for under $12.00. If you need a Mac compatible keyboard immediately, its a quick, low cost replacement. It doesn't have the best feel and the keys (black with white characters) can be hard to read, but its serves (until you can get a better replacement).

I can confirm that the Logitech S 530 Mac cordless keyboard and mouse combo works flawlessly with MorphOS. That's what I use here on Mac mini.

That's cool! It's nice not having to depend on Apple for everything. Logitech products are available through a lot of retailer.

I am currently using a KVMed PC keyboard but it occasionally doesnt work at all and i have to hit the power button. The mac keyboard has onboard USB ports so i can plug in my mouse thus freeing up the other port for flash drive/usb dac etc.

I could get a hub but having a mac keyboard would be nicer to have :)
