I recently did some movie playing testing on my PowerMac G4 MDD 3.6 only to discover that there is no sound! Same goes for youtube, mp3 etc.

The volume bar is high on MorphOS and the sound is working ok under OSX.

Go to audio settings and it seems that the Apple device is selected -I think the stereo ++ one-.

As far as I can remember there are some sound problems on models lower than 3.5.

So... Is there anything you would recommend me to test or to change?

    Thanks!

Just go buy an appropriate SB Live.. it's a ton better than the built in audio. I got mine for $5!

Did you check all units in AHI? Not just Music Unit but also Unit #1, Unit #2 etc?

I have some MDD macs that are quiet overall... The only mac that was actually loud was my FW800 G4 MDD, my other 2 MDDs FW400 are really quiet in audio... Wasnt able to boost it up. I just threw in some Sound Blaster lives and that took care of it.

Even if the bar is set to maximum on the screenbar volume control, try moving it up and down a little.
I find on my Powerbook that after rebooting the audio is muted by default (regardless of the level of the volume control) until I move the control by a pixel. Could be the same for the Powermac, I just don't have one to test anymore.

@Boot_wb: Thanks I will check this!

One more question on Settings - System - Audio, I set all the units and the music unit to use the Apple2S HiFi 16 Bit Stereo++, actually this is the default, but how I set WHICH unit is used by the system in default (In order to try out with different units, as suggester above). If I leave the audio setting unit selector to one specific unit -example - unit 0- does it makes unit 0 the default one?

ps. Actually I discover that there IS sound output but in EXTREMELY low level no matter how I have set the volume, monitor and gain bars on each unit on the audio prefs. Hmm and I guess that playing with the main volume bar -moving it slowly down- would bring this -low- sound back.

I played around with the settings for a long time. The SB just works once you install and configure AHI.

Agreed, just avoid a Dell branded SB Live. Put the SB Live in and configure AHI, then forget about it. Doffo sent me a SB Live for free and I got another on eBay for about $6 including shipping.
