That's true, Andreas, the only missing thing is actually a small application to hook up to our sensors API and display the results. Any takers? :)
I am working on learning the C programming language as fast as I can, so hopefully within a few weeks or months, I will be able to work on small programs like this.
If you want to give me some pointers on how to get started on this small programming project, I will be happy to give it a try and work on it. I can send you back the source code I write and you can review it and tell me if I am going in the right direction or not. Something like this should be easy to figure out if the sensor code is already done and I just have to write code to display what the sensor is reading.
Might be a perfect first project for me to attempt.
@maurensen,
MorphOS3.1 can run warm if you are stressing the G4 at 90% to 100% CPU load for long periods, but you are right, it should only be heating up one of the two G4's in your system.
If you have another computer to run MacOSX on, I suggest you do what I did and find a single 1.25GHz G4 CPU module for the MDD model of the G4 PowerMac. Then I will help you over-clock it like I did. It will then run MorphOS3.1 faster AND cooler, because you will only have one G4 generating heat in the computer, instead of two.
I have my single G4 running at 1.58GHz which is probably the easiest speed to switch to, as all you have to do is remove 2 or 3 resistors and no voltage bump is required. I was thinking of trying to over-clock it to 1.67GHz, but don't think it is worth the extra trouble, so might stay with this 1.58GHz speed instead. I am using the Copper heat sink from the dual 1.42GHz G4 MDD PowerMac model, and I have already removed the noisy main fan and replaced it with a "Silent" fan of the same size and as close to the same CFM rating as I could find. As soon as I can, I will check the temperature of my single 1.58GHz G4 MDD PowerMac. From my first test run, it seems to run very cool, but I haven't stressed it by running something that will push the G4 CPU to 90% or more for a few minutes.
