I just got this card today, slapped it into a PCI slot and I do not see it in Devices>Audio. Crapola! This is a EMU10K based card... Am I missing something dumb?

Incompatible card it seems, bummer. Anyone have a tested, compatible card for sale reasonable in the USA?

I'm not up to date on which sound cards are supported or not, so I can't help. I have an Audigy2 card around here from a previous PC build that I thought of trying, but I don't know if it is supported either and will have to check out the official list of supported cards.

    Good luck!

    bash64,

I am interested in the Sound Blaster and possibly the USB card, if cheap enough. What prices are you looking at with shipping to 33317? You can post in the thread or PM if you wish :-)

Shipping is kind of high nowadays.
I probably paid $50 for both.
    How about $20 + $7 shipping.

Did you test that card in another machine ? Emu10k should work. I have 2x soundblaster here and both work fine, however the Audigy I tried worked but made my system freeze rather sooner then later when sound was used.

Ahhhhh....no I cannot test in another machine.
If it doesn't work I'd refund the money.
I have no reason to believe it does not work.
The machine wont stay powered on. It immediately turns back off.

I remember now....I put a stick of ram in backwards.
Don't think this motherboard will be coming back up any time soon.
    Can't believe I did that.
20 years of computer repair and I have never done anything like that.

Yeah, my SB Live works fine too.
But out of three I've purchased on Ebay, only one was functional.
That could be your problem Red.

    @Jim
Unfortunately it is a working card. It was confirmed by the MOS team that it is not a supported model :-(

Is it because it has the EMU10K1X chip instead of EMU10K1 chip?
