I bought this card which is clearly marked as Mac version. Upon receipt today I find out it is actually a PC version. Google seems to suggest it is a 8500LE and not actually an 8500?

Is this really an 8500LE and not 8500?

If 8500LE how much of a drop off in performance is there?

I may consider keeping it and flashing it. What is the fair price for a PC version? I may ask the seller for a partial refund because this is clearly not as described.

I flashed it and it works fine so far. Do you agree the seller was misleading and I overpaid for a PC version of 8500LE?

You could have known it was a pcversion, since it didn't have that extra connector that apple uses on it's AGP cards for powering the monitor. I suppose it's still a good buy, and lucky enough you apparently have the knowledge to reflash it....

Here in Poland, Radeons 8500 are a bit cheaper:

    20 zł is about 4.6euro

    Red,
You may not have paid that much of a premium (depending on price) and the performance hit of an LE is minimal (I use a 9100 which is similar and its still more powerful then a 9200).

I would agree with you on being misled and paying too much.

Radeon 9100 is more than "similar": it's a 8500LE relabeled.
The 8500 (not LE..) should have 25 more Mhz (I don't remember if is about clock, ram speed, or both)

    That was my point.
I remember when ATI allowed vendors to re-label the 8500LE as a 9100.
Considering that bthe 9000 was less powerful this made sense.
And 25 Mhz is a minor drop.
