I just saw this (Click Here) and it got me wondering about supported SCSI PCI cards that work with MorphOS2.7 & MacOSX in a G4 PowerMac. I don't know enough about Adaptec SCSI controllers to know if they are compatible with any of the listed Symbios SCSI controllers that work with MorphOS2.x, but I would of course prefer a faster & newer 68pin or 80pin UW SCSI-2, or SCSI-3 PCI controller card. But even old 50pin controllers would be useful to connect some of my old external SCSI devices or hard drive towers to my MorphOS2.x G4 PowerMac. I like the idea of being able to connect my Amiga SCSI gear to my G4 MorphOS PowerMac and with the Catweasel installed I could also use an Amiga keyboard and mouse instead of what I am using now, although I will probably stay with a 3 button scroll USB mouse.

Let me know if you know where I can get a MorphOS supported SCSI-2, or SCSI-3 PCI controller card that works in a G4 PowerMac. Hopefully with an external and internal connector and a low price.

As far as I've heard, we're not getting SCSI support for the Powermac until a later revision. I have a Symbios SCSI controller in my Powermac that I use when running Ubuntu.
BTW, while based on an older standard, the Symbios controllers (supported by MorphOS) do have a 68 pin connector.
When MorphOS supports the use of these controllers on a Powermac, I'll try tying a later drive to the controller (I've got a U320 drive around here somewhere). I've already exchanged some messages with other users using U160 drives on this controller, so it may be possible to use these drives as well.

There's nothing in the MorphOS 2.7 release notes that indicates any change of that status. But there was something said about when it's supposed to change:

I take it you mean U2W SCSI and U3W SCSI, whereas SCSI-2 and SCSI-3 are the predecessors. According to http://www.morphos-team.net/hardware.html ("Symbios 89x") the best you can get for MorphOS is the 53C896, which is dual-channel U2W SCSI. There also seems to be a 53C897 (pages 227/228) but I don't know its difference to the 53C896.

    The 53C89x is U2W SCSI.

Not all NCR/Symbios/LSI SCSI controller chips supported by MorphOS comply to a 16 bit wide SCSI spec version (i.e. 68 pins), e.g. the 53C710 supports only 8 bit mode.

Quite right, no support in 2.7, so it will be a later version before we get any SCSI support in our G4 PowerMacs with MorphOS. I was thinking out loud of the future support that I am hoping for.

Yep, I haven't seen the 896 Andreas mentioned, but I own an 895 and I can confirm it will work on a Powermac (just not under MorphOS or OSX - yet).
