I am considering getting a KVM-switch for my PC-MacMini setup so that I can get rid of the extra keyboard, and earphones I have connected to my MacMini at the moment.

My monitor is a IIyma ProLiteE2403WS monitor that has a HDMI amd a D-sub connection. The PC uses the HDMI connection and the MacMini the D-sub and I switch on a button on the monitors front. Well enough about that.

Is there any one that has experiences with KVM switches on a PC-MacMini (running MorphOS2.4) setup?

I have previously tried with a Aten petit:

    http://www.aten.com/products/productItem.php?pid=20070420164543001&psid=20070130114323002&pcid=20070130111333003&layerid=subClass3

    And a Belkin Flip:

    http://store.apple.com/fi/product/TP725ZM/A

But both didn't work properly. The Belkin had distortions on the picture on the Mac side (running at the time OS10.5.8) and the the Petit had major problems with mouse and keyboard.

I have read somewhere that KVM's can be a bit tricky with MacMinis (mine is a standard 1.42Mz, 1GB ram and 32MB video) but have'nt found the trick so far.

    Any suggestions / recommendations?

Using a Belkin Flip with a Mac Mini Morphos 2.4 and Tiger along with a Sam and AOS 4.1.
It's a VGA version so having to use DVI-VGA adapters.

It does work but it's a bit wierd.
No problem with the quality of the display on the monitor.

Problem I do have is with the keyboard.

I have to plug both USB conectors into the Mac, to get the keyboard working.
Then I have to unplug both USB connectors and then plug them in again, one in each machine.
Then have to swap the USB connectors over a few times until the keyboard is working on the displayed OS.

I use a Belkin 2 Port Switch from the SOHO series with DVI, USB, audio, microphone and included USB Hub. Works fine with my Peg II, PC and ProLite WS2607 @ 1900x1200. Only problem is, that I have no keyboard input in the open firmware, presumably because the USB input devices are routed through the internal hub of the Switch, which is not recognized by OF (direct plugging USB Keyb. into Peg no problem).
Dunno if this is the same with the Mini...
Under MorphOS and Windoze no problems with input and perfect display.

The minis firmware does handle keyboards connected through a hub, might take a little trial and error to get it to respond to startup key combos.

I ended up buying a Avocent SwitchView DVI to port KVM switch over ebay. The switch works perfectly over MorphOS and Windows 7. However if you - like me - are using Ubuntu 9.10 as your primary PC OS you can run into trouble. I had a lot of problems configuring the xorg.conf file correct.

The problem was that Ubuntu (and a lot of other Linux distros) used your monitors EDID information to calculated the correct resolution. Unfortunately most switches stops the EDID signal comming trough and therefore you have to manually define modelines, disable EDID etc. I have posted my Ubuntu experiences here if others comes across the same problem.
