I just bought a R9200 from Ebay, installed it today on my radeon ... the thing booted fine untill I used the "boot" command ... the biosscreen started to distort and also the Morphos desktop distorts ... tested with a pc, different monitors and cables . how big is the change the Radeon just crashes 1 minute after being inserted to my Efika. Nothing with the Efika, works fine with my Radeon 9k and voodoo3

Sounds more like you didn't had inserted it properly to the slot. Then such effects like you described can happen.

But I don't know when your screen started to distort.... after boot doesn't tell much.. did it try to display boot picture already f.ex.? How did the disortion looked like exactly?

But I guess it just wasn't properly inserted. Sounds just like that.

I am sure it was properly in place, the moment I typed boot at the openfirmware it actually started booting and distorting at the same time... how does the distortion look like :

And shows always this now ... so I guess it's fried. What a sad moment ... I just wanted to test Morphos 2.1 with it.

Well, some people indeed reported damaged Radeons with their Efika, but in those cases they caused it due not having a proper case and not used an isolation paper between hard drive and graphic board.

In such situation its easy due simple moving the Efika to unplug the card during the runtime. Also a little pull on the monitor cable may kill the board and mostly instand death is caused by having the graphic board laying on the hard drive without at least a sheet of paper.

So, only the user may cause the death.

I am sure that wasn't the problem because I placed spacers between card before I connected it. I burned a Flickerfixer in an A2000 against the psu this way, so I learned that already the bad way ...
