    Is there any risk of loss of data, if i have my backup harddrive ide cable connected and the +5 +12v disconnected?
    I want it this way so i can use an external switch for power on the drive when i need it.
    My Pegasos will ofcourse be powered off when i change the switch.
    The reason is that im not using the backup harddrive often, and its noisy and i dont want to open the case to enable disable the drive.

    There is an IDEStanby command included in MorphOS. No need to manual turnoff. Oh, well, there shouldn't be any problem but is that hard to disconnect an ide cable anyway? :P.

    @Korni
    Its not hard to disconnect the ide cable, but i dont want to open the case everytime:(
    I used IDEStanby earlier, but you know i do alot of crazy stuffs on my Peg, programming and trasching memory, i stress her alot:) so sometimes i reboot her often, and every boot the noisy harddrive is spinning up again.
    I want to be kind to my harddrive not letting it spin up and down alot.
    And i dont want to wake my girlfriend everytime i reboot the computer:)

    Hello,

    If you disconnect power, HD's components will receive data (0/5V) without be powered, it's not safe.

    why dont you use a rack ?
    It's the better solution IMHO.

    thanx, i forgot the logic 5V in the cable, you are total right, it cant be safe.
    I will retire this drive and get a new silent one instead.
