There are some problems, which i have with MOS 2 (When i was using MOS 1.4.x most of these problems not occured).

First problem are random slowdowns, like in unregistered version of MOS 2, but after a few hours of using.

Second is, also sometimes, video output switching off. Just "puff" and there's no video on monitor. I heard that it may be gfx card overheating, but after reset everything's ok, so it's probably not this.

Third is Sound Blaster Live! problem. I have this card, but i can't use it regardless it's working. It's beacuse after a few minutes of using it there's OS suspend with loud "beep" on audio output.

Fourth is problem with USB stack. I have some devices (or to be more accurate, one USB MemPen and one joypad) which were working without problems under MOS1.4.x with Poseidon 3.x, but currently are not with MOS2/Poseidon 4.x.

Fifth is, occuring even some time before MOS2, AC'97 problem with noise when i have system volume over -16db. I heard that it may be problem with dying capacitor. So... is there possiblity to fix this problem? And where i must send mainboard and how much (approximately) it may cost?

1st: Random slowdowns could suggest that some of your programs behave bad. If you have serial debug activated (aka do not boot with ramdebug enabled) all hit information output goes over serial which can noticable slow down when some program is hitting constantly. Try to get rid of the broken program.

2nd: Monitor switching off... Do you also hear the HDs spinning down then? ANd does it happen more frequently when you put some load on your system (e.g. loads of HD activity or stuff)? I recently had a similiar problem and it was a unstable powersupply.. after exchanging it everything was fine again. Could be a bad cable problem too of course or something. Just 'switching down' doesn't say much.

    3rd: No idea about that.

4th Poseidon4 and its classes and drivers had/have various known bugs. Probably some of that issues will be fixed with the next release.

5th Random noise can come from bad wireing inside your machine. Try to disable some inputs on the Inputs page in Mixer to see if you can get rid of it. Also some extreme noise can come from a dying powersupply. As I said above I had to exchange my powersupply.. funnily enough using a new powersupply (I use a 120 PICO PSU now) reduced this 'noise' a lot for me. Some slight noise with maxed outputs/inputs is normal though depending what the machine does right now. E.g. when using headphones and have no music on I can hear HD activity in them when I have the volume at max. But it's not intrusive at all... more like a normal life sign. :)

    regards,

1st: I have RAMDEBUG option in boot option. My boot string is:

    BOOT HD BOOT.IMG RAMDEBUG 3D

I think this may be problem of AmiGG, because it mostly occur (if not only) when i'm using AmiGG.

2nd: Yes, i heard that it may be problem with power supply. So i switch my old PSu to brand new Pentagram PFS-430-P12S, which is probably good enough. ;-)

Saddly, it doesn't help at all in this case. :-(

    4th: So, i'm waiting for update... ;-)

5th: I was trying already to disable some inputs/outputs in mixer. To tell you the truth currently i have active only Volume in output and Wave in input. Moreover when i disactivate even Wave, there's still this noise. And it's not HD activity (i know what you mean), because this noise is continous, regardless of state of hardware (it even occurs in OF).

I have a SB Live! too, and the only problems I had were because of "sensitive" (read: loose) connection to the mainboard. No SW involved, so far...
BTW, which mixer are you using?

So I'm not the only one!
For USB pen (provided it's not going into an endless plug/unplug loop like my MP3 Player), try to mount it with Mounter: my external hd is correctly recognized but fails to automount.
Anyway, don't worry as I'll be so annoying that these issues will be fixed for sure ;-)

Why only "some"? And why only "probably"? Do you mean that there's no guarantee that Chris corrects all these annoyances? We all know Chris is quite tired about USB, but it's strange that all those problems went into final release. Chris is a very good programmer.

But he probably doesn't have access to every possible setup out there....

Sadly, update to MorphOS 2.1 didn't remove the problems. Video i still switching off sometime. Slowdowns are even more slower (now framerate is about 1fps!). Soundblaster usage still suspends OS.

Moreover there's new bug. Sometimes when OS i booting, it doesn't boot. Once i had empty ambient screen (like as after using EndCLI before LoadWB). Other time i had vertical b/w stripes.

if you have a USB2 PcI card in your peg, remove it and see if u still have these issues.
Removing my usb2 card solved most of my problems, the same card that was working great with 1.4

    @solo,

    Video switching off?
Slowdowns? When? Which radeon do you have? Which resolution/depth? 3d layers enabled or not?
    Soundblaster suspending the OS?
    Os not booting?
    Stripes?

Lot of awful things that i haven't seen reported anywhere else. Could you give more details about your configuration?

    Of course enabled.

    > Could you give more details about your configuration?

Pegasos II + G4 1GHz, 512MB Kingston, mentioned above Radeon.

Well... i was sending a few bugreports via about MorphOS/Support/Send Bugreport option. Probably because some circumstances they was not sent, was not received... or option is not working. ;-)

    Hi,
like Solo_Kazuki, I'm having trouble with my USB JoyPAD.
This peripheral works fine under MOS 1.4.5.
My USB mouse, keyboard and Key are working fine, but not the PAD. Undern MOS 2.1
    sade!!!

the investigation about USB Joypad not working continues.

A french guy remembre me about the fact lowlevel.library is not part of morphos but it's a contribution and I need to install it by myself after the MOS installer finished his work.
So, I installed this lib and my pad began to did some sign of life.
The cross directions are now working, but unfortunatly, the buttons are always dead.

Should this issue be a poseidon problem or a lowlevel.library problem?

I tryed my old lowlevel.library from my working MOS 1.4.5, in to MOS 2.1 but it dont work better than the newer.

Maybe there's something to configure somewhere?

    an idea please?

    More about errors:

I found that when video will off skipping of screens (Amiga+M) sometimes helps - video will appear. But not always. So i think this is system problem (my suspicion about gfx card overheating is now out of case).

Moreover, there's one more person using MorphOS 2 with similar problems like i have (slowdowns & video off).
