That is MorphOS running on a MPC5200 based device from the "Automotive" section of Freescale called MobileGT. Also, please pay attention to the date of that post.
While not entirely correct you could perhaps think of the MobileGt as a predecessor to the Efika, at least in a Genesi/b-plan/MorphOS context. Genesi used the MobieGT to get things going at a very early stage (probably for testing, firmware development, and as you can see the MorphOS boots and runs on it as well) in what perhaps could be called their "
just enough computing" effort. From this they developed their own board called "Efika" (meaning "efficient" in esperanto) that they got a Freescale "
Best of Show" award for at a big Freescale event /Freescale Technology Forum, Florida, 2005). The
Efika that was released to public was an updated version of the awardwinner, with a slightly modified board layout and a MPC5200B processor. MorphOS 2.0 will be publicly released for this one, that's what we all are waiting for right now.
And all this together is only the first, initial step in this "Just Enough Computing" and mobility direction. While the Efika is a fully functional board, I look at it more as a foundation for performance evaluation, OS development, application development (both SW and HW ones, and don't forget the "Efika Projects"), etc, than some kind of end-goal by itself. The beginning of the road trip rather then the destination. The *next* Efika will be when the fun begins for real. And with that I think a "Mobile MorphOS" could find a spot in the sun.
MorphOS is Amiga
done right!
MorphOS NG will be AROS
done right!
