Depending on if a pci card would be seen behind a PEX 8112 PCI to PCIE bridge on a PCIEx1 to PCI adapter. If I get some time I will try it .

And some Sam460's have envy24ht pciex1 cards so this is a a good platform to update the driver on.

There are several ways to do this on the Sam460ex. On the Sam460cr on the other hand...

IIRC the sam460ex is fully supported. Currently you cant buy the sam460ex new but only the sam460cr. The sam460cr is a stripped down sam460ex:
without onboard SATA, without onboard soundcard, without onboard graphics card.

The Sam460ex is fully supported by MorphOS. This includes onboard sound, onboard SATA and onboard graphics.

When using the 460cr version you need to pick supported hardware from the hardware compatiblity list as the onboard hardware got removed.

What hardware would you recommend for:
    Graphics?
    Sound?
    Harddisk controller?

P.S. can you tell me if PCIe->PCI bridges are supported in MorphOS?

    Ah, sorry guys:
I meant the Sam460 cr, not the "ex".

So booting from sd with sata connected to pcie is possible?

    Also the PCIe x1?

I wonder if ACube will reconsider production of the SAM460ex, now that MorphOS supports it fully? I am not interested in buying such a system, but there might be enough MorphOS users who want newly manufactured systems to make a small production run possible.

Personally, I don't see the advantage of getting new hardware appealing enough, when compared to the performance and price of used Mac G4 & G5 hardware that is already supported, but I know there are some who prefer new equipment.

I vote for as cheap production as possible, eg SAM460cr+SATA.

btw. does MorphOS support DMA on the 460ex SATA port ?
(This http://www.morphos-team.net/hardware does not show SATA support at all.)

So, IMO, SAM460ex reproduction because of SM502 audio does not make sense.

What we need is an update to the Envy24 driver.
Getting working correctly with PCI cards, then update it to work with PCIe cards.
    Problem solved.
Why doesn't someone just plead with the author for the source code, clean it up, and incorporate it into the MorphOS distro?

No pleading involved, Davy offered them (with the noted disclaimer that this was all he could do).

    Nice guy.

    Dave actually offered to help.
Damn, that IS really nice of him considering the poor sales that his Amiga port of Audio Evolution generated.
    Very cool.
Wish there was a way we could properly thank him.

    And he moved on.

Edit - Wow, I just looked over the source for that driver. Intense, no wonder no one has taken that one on. Looks like its time to re-install the SB Live.

    Today I got my sam460cr.
Morphos 3.9 doesnt seem to support PCIe-2-PCI Bridges. I tried one with an emu10k1 (SB-Live!) soundcard, but the soundcard wasnt recognized.

So he created a port for the platform(s) he moved to from the original Amiga version :-)

And continued to enhance the other ports, while not upgrading the Amiga version.
