Hi. Recently I bought a Mac mini without externals, then I bought a standard wired PC keyboard and a wireless mouse. Both for USB of course.
But Mac wount boot up with mouse plugged in. After power it on the power LED lights up, then I hear the jingle sound, then CD drive checking if a CD medium is inserted and from this point the boot process stops.

If I power on mac without the mouse plugged in mac boots up perfectly.
    The keyboard causes no problems.

I miss draggable screens... and do you? I know I'm in a minority unfortunately.

Wireless are sometimes troublesome. I have one that MorphOS does not like. For me, it just jerks around and is unusable.

Solution: get a new mouse. Preferbly one with a cord.

But when I plug it "on the go" Poseidon bounds it very fast and mouse is ready to use. It works really perfectly.
I checked 2 another mice (both corded) and both cause no problems while booting up. Thanks. How do you think? How big is chance to find a trouble-free wireless mouse for Mini?

And finally another issue I noticed.
It turned out that my new keyboard is a troublemaker as well. Trying to reach Mini's OS select menu or Mini's OF I got it one time for about 10-15 attempts.
I set MorphOS as a default OS to boot. Holding left or right Alt right after reboot or right after power on mostly finish without OS select screen. MorphOS boots up as a default option.
For example, at this time, I restarted Mini over 10 times without getting OS select menu.

Do you have hub there or directly connected to mini? Try with or without hub?

At least cheap Logitech wireless mice have worked just fine with my systems.

How about if you press the alt key just when you hear DVD drive's grumbling sound? I have feeling that sometimes alt key isn't taken if it's pressed too early.

Like jPV said: try it without a hub if you use one. Most probably there is something wrong in early boot which MorphOS can correct later, but not without coming into conflict first. That would explain why it works if you plug it in after MorphOS has completed booting.

Sadly, some mouses are made to work with Windows, and add stuff that makes life a little more difficult for MacOS and Linux users, and a lot more difficult for MorphOS users. It's the same with keyboards and other USB devices too.

    Stupid Windows ...

Same result with or without usb hub. But I found that when I hold and release Alt key alternately and the holding down period is much longer than the one of release then I mostly get the OS select screen :-)
    It looks like this:
    ------- holding down period
    -- ---- release time gap

    -------- --------- -------- -------- --------

In the time when I had Pegasos2 there was a Boot menu script for those who wanted to play with Linux. Is there such one for Macs?

Yes, holding down ALT eventually gives you the boot menu.
